Wisconsin Walleye Limit Changes

fishing rod minecraft

The Wisconsin walleye limit is different than those in many other states. You are still allowed to keep five fish daily statewide, a number that has increased from five in 2008. In addition, the bag limit for the state's waters has increased to ten. Anglers now have more opportunities to catch walleyes per day thanks to a new law. Additionally, the current walleye limit has been decreased from 20 to 24-inch.

The new regulations will increase the walleye size limit and bag limits to five year. During the five-year period, the size limit will be raised to 18 inches, while fish 22 to 28 inches may be kept. The bag limit would drop to one per day. Gregg Walker was the executive director of Walleyes for Tomorrow's Minocqua Chapter. He spoke in favor.

The new regulations of the DNR will apply to all Wisconsin lakes. A walleye must be at least eighteen inches in size. A walleye can only grow to 28 inches. However, if the fish is over 20 inches, the fish cannot be kept. If this change is implemented, anglers will be allowed to keep only one fish a day. This will allow the population growth to continue while still providing walleye recreational fishing.

As a response to the dramatic decline in walleye population, DNR has imposed a five-year ban upon walleye harvest. DNR surveys revealed that the population has reached its goal level of two fish per square meter. But this was not enough to sustain the goal level. They discovered that fish were not reproducing as quickly as they were supposed to and that there was too much female stock in the pool. While the DNR is considering the new regulations, sentiment is mixed.

Unlike the fish of the past, the Wisconsin walleye limit for saugers and other fish have been changed. The fall regulation will raise the limit on the size of saugers from twenty-seven inches to 27 inches. But, the minimum size for saugers has not changed. In fact, the DNR has several alternatives for high-density and slow-growth lakes. Some lakes will not allow any fish smaller than 14inches, while others may only allow one fish.

For the 2020-21 license year, the new Wisconsin walleye limit will take effect Wednesday. It represents one of the largest changes to fishing regulations in a single year in decades. The new regulation permits anglers to legally pursue bass throughout the year, even after the harvest season has ended. The new regulation is expected to increase the number tournaments and club outings that are available for bass. It gives fishermen more chances to use their skills.
